During the second quarter of 2021, the top 5 communication apps in Mexico showcased varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at their performance, based on data from Sensor Tower.

WhatsApp Messenger from WhatsApp LLC saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, peaking at $45 in early June and ending the quarter at $35. Weekly downloads for the app witnessed a downward trend, starting at 536K at the end of March and declining to 349K by the end of June. However, its weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 62M throughout the quarter.

Messenger by Meta Platforms, Inc. exhibited a varied revenue pattern, with a significant peak of $77 in late April and another high of $76 in the final week of June. Weekly downloads showed slight fluctuations, starting at 356K and ending at 302K. The app's active users saw a gradual decline from 37.4M at the beginning of the quarter to 35.1M by its end.

Sticker.ly - Sticker Maker from Naver Z Corporation did not generate any revenue during this period. Its weekly downloads showed a downward trend, starting at 224K and decreasing to 145K. Active users exhibited minor fluctuations, peaking at 3.5M in late April before stabilizing around 3.1M by the end of June.

Telegram from Telegram FZ-LLC also reported no revenue. Weekly downloads varied, beginning at 216K and ending at 158K. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 3.4M and ending at approximately 3.3M.

Snapchat by Snap Inc experienced modest revenue, peaking at $8 several times throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads oscillated, starting at 174K and reaching a high of 232K in mid-June before settling at 181K. Active users grew from 18.3M at the start of the quarter to 19.2M by mid-June, before slightly declining to 18.7M at the end of June.
